Dana White teases Super Bowl Power Slap fight between Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley

Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley are finally going to settle things once and for all.

During the Los Angeles Lakers' 106-103 In-Season Tournament quarterfinal win against the Phoenix Suns, the pair of NBA legends got into one of their classic disagreements about the outcome of the game.

Barkley initially suggested a $15 million bet in favour of his Suns before Shaq upped the ante with a $30 million proposition.

Barkley balked at the idea before Ernie Johnson suggested the pair have a slap fight - inspired by UFC president Dana White's Power Slap league.

Barkley appeared to love the suggestion, jokingly telling White to 'book' it.

“Dana White, me and Shaq in a Power Slap match…Book it. Pay-per-view….I get to go first? I’m gonna knock your a** out”, a confident Barkley warned O'Neal.

During another segment, Barkley once again brought up another potential Power Slap match with Shaq.

“As long as I get to go first, you’re soft, once I hit you, you’re going to drop like a sack of potatoes”, he said.

The wager eventually made its way to White, who humourously entertained the idea.

He even suggested staging it on Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas.

The UFC CEO retweeted footage from the TNT show with the caption, "SHAQ vs Charles Barkley. Feb 9th Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas @powerslapleague".

White also retweeted the footage of the two with a caption asking the fans, “Shaq vs Chuck Power Slap match incoming, who you got?”

Fans on social media caught wind of White's tongue in cheek proposal and shared their thoughts about the potential slap showdown.

"I really don’t wanna see Shaq kill Charles on tape tbh," one fan joked.

"I’m absolutely there if this happens!," said another.

"I'd pay if they did it," replied a third person.

"Make this real! We need our first Celebrity Power Slap match! This would be the perfect time to do it!," a fourth wrote.

Barkley and O'Neal are known for getting into light-hearted arguments on live TV, and have gone head-to-head in a number of hilarious challenges before.

They once competed in a weight lifting challenge with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and had a foot race against other Inside the NBA crew members.

Power Slap star goes viral after blowing a kiss to her opponent after receiving a heavy hit

However, a Power Slap fight would certainly be a different kind of battle, and one you'd have to back Shaq to win given how massive he is.

For those that don't know, slap fighting is a controversial new sport that involves two competitors either side of a podium taking turns to slap each other in the face with the aim of scoring a knockout blow.

It has has gained notoriety recently following Dana White's decision to launch his own promotion - Power Slap.

A number of brutal slaps have gone viral of late, including one last week that White described as 'the hardest hit' in Power Slap history.

While it's fun to imagine, it's highly unlikely we'll see Shaq and Chuck compete in a legitimate Power Slap contest.

For all their back and forths, the pair have genuine warmth and affection towards one another and have said before they see each as brothers.

Although it may not seem like it sometimes, it's doubtful they'd actually want to inflict that much pain on each other.
