Spice Girls' "Wannabe" Used For Feminist Campaign

Almost everyone is familiar with the Spice Girls’ ear worm, “Wannabe.” However, this song is now getting used in an incredible, empowering way. Global Goal’s Campaign #WhatIReallyReallyWant Movement highlights the discrimination and everyday sexism that women face globally. They recently made a video with many well-known stars to the Spice Girls’ tune:

The video focuses on issues such as violence against women, education for everyone, child marriage, and equal pay. Directed by M.J. Delaney, the video features Larsen Thompson, Gigi Lamayne, and a variety of other international women.

Even the Spice Girls themselves are excited about “Wannabe” being the background track for this campaign. Former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham tweeted her support recently, excited that the song can inspire another group of girls:
