Zac Efron Opens Up Over Being Objectified

Publish date: 2024-06-02

Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron shot to fame back in 2006 when he starred in the Disney Channel blockbuster High School Musical alongside Vanessa Hudgens.

Efron was just 17-years-old when he landed the role of the all singing all basketball playing Troy Bolton, and even though it was the Disney Channel the then teen star still had to film shirtless scenes.

Ever since that role catapulted him to worlwide fame, Zac Efron who is now aged 28-years-old has been constantly cast in film roles where he is “required” to take his top off! Film roles such as ‘The Lucky One’ and ‘Baywatch’ have seen the hunky actor stripping off on a regular basis, but despite being objectified by the movie industry the actor insists he doesn’t mind.

Speaking to New.com.au about taking his shirt off in movies, Zac said: “When it comes to being objectified, I signed up for it. Hopefully I can keep it up for as long as possible, while I’m capable and still young.”

Despite admitting that he is fine with getting his top off for movie roles, he did question whether it is essential for him to strip off in every film;  ”There are a lot of times when it’s uncomfortable and you say, ‘Is it really necessary for my character to be shirtless in this scene?’”
